The Closer Bell — Case 1: Crossing

Retired Savannah homicide detective Gus Bell takes a case only when he rings the bell himself. His estranged daughter Lee brings him Earline Tubbs, a crossing guard killed in a hit-and-run, and an AI case assistant she built called Mildred, who speaks in the voice of Lee's late grandmother. Earline had been logging speeders whose tickets kept disappearing, because SafeStreet's operations manager, Curtis Vane, was selling erasures. After his driver, Tully Rourke, firebombs Gus's car, the case ends in SafeStreet's server room, where Mildred shouts Tully down in Grandma's voice. Vane and Rourke are arrested.
